Hamlin Hannibal Garland (born September 14, 1860 in West Salem, Wisconsin; died March 4, 1940 in Hollywood, California) was an American novelist, poet, essayist, & short story writer. He is better known for his fiction involving tough-tireless Midwestern farmers.
Innate into the Wisconsin farm family, he moved throughout a Midwest throughout his immature life, however moved to Boston to pursue a writing career around 1886. His 1st profits come around 1891 with Main-Traveled Roads, a collection of short stories inspired by his times on the domestic. Fallowing publishing an acclaimed life of Ulysses S. Grant in ''McClure's Magazine (published as a book in 1898), Garland moved west to follow the Klondike Gold Rush, which inspired him to write The Trail of the Gold Seekers in 1899, which proved to be his most successful work to date.
The prolific writer, Garl& continued to publish novels, short story collections, essays, and short fiction for many publications. Beginning inside 1917, Garl& began writing an autobiography based on a life of he and his personal, too when a Western Midwest, highborn The Boy of the Middle Border''. A number 1 book's profits prompted the sequel, The Girl of the Middle Border, for which Garland won a 1922 Pulitzer Prize for biography. Fallowing ii other volumes, Garland began another popular series of memoirs according to his diary.
Hamlin Garlin died at age seventy-nine, fallowing moving to Hollywood, California to research psychic phenomenon, for which he wrote many books, including 1939's The Mystery of the Buried Crosses. His late works tried to defend such phenomenon & prove a legitimacy of psychic mediums.
